Solomon Islands has decided to end its policy of sending medical students to Cuba.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, Dr Tenneth Dalepanda, says trained doctors returning from Cuba have limitations in clinical and practical fields.

He says they need to be tested, after a six-month bridging programme, to meet the Solomons' clinical standards in order to practise as doctors.
