Lae City Dwellers football coach Peter Gunemba believes his team is capable of causing a surprise in their Oceania Champions League debut.

The Papua New Guinea club was only formed two seasons ago, following the demise of Lae FC, but has already won a maiden national title.

They've been drawn in the same O-League pool as defending champions Auckland City and twice finalists Amicale FC.

Peter Gunemba says his players will be overawed.

"I'm not afraid of facing those teams. I haven't seen them play but I know football in Oceania. We will give our very best but I don't think we will lose badly because the players they are raw talent and when something new is introduced to them they really want to pick it up. I'm confident we can give Auckland and Amicale a good run for their money - we can always cause surprises."

Lae City is one of two PNG clubs in the 2016 competition, along with former champions Hekari United.
