Samoa teen jailed for sexual offences against sister

In Samoa, a nineteen-year old male has been jailed for seven charges of sexual offences against his younger sister.

The teenager has been sentenced to 13-and-a-half years in jail for each of the charges, including rape and having sex with a girl under 12 years old.

In passing the sentence, the chief Justice, Patu Falefatu Sapolu, said the offending was serious and prolonged.

The victim was 10 years younger than the accused at the time of the offences.

The sentences must be served concurrently.
