Fiji police warn people not to assist suspects

The Fiji Police Force has warned people not to assist suspects in evading police.

The Fiji Times says the warning follows a recent rape case for which a 31-year-old suspect was on the run and being allegedly assisted by a number of people.

It also follows the decision by the military to harbour an officer wanted by police in October for sexual assault.

The former police commissioner Ben Groenewald called for investigation into the military officers who allegedly thwarted efforts to arrest a fugitive.
