The CNMI Division of Customs discovered 4.9 lbs of methamphetamine or "ice" during a routine inspection of a 40-foot container from Guangzhou, China at the Port of Saipan.
The drugs, with an estimated street value of $850,000, were concealed in a 5-gallon paint container. Commonwealth police also arrested three Chinese nationals in connection with the drug heist.
The ice bust comes just five months after 23 lbs of ice was seized by Customs. The July drug bust is the biggest in CNMI history with "ice" seized estimated at $4 million
