Recovery efforts in the Northern Marianas are winding down, four months after Typhoon Soudelor devastated much of the main island of Saipan.
The United States Federal Emergency Management Authority will close its field office on Saipan next Friday after it was opened when the category five typhoon tore through the island in August.
FEMA has so far distributed more than US$25 million in housing and personal assistance, and $7.6 million for public assistance and the rebuilding of infrastructure.

It says it has helped clear almost 26,000 cubic metres of debris and donated 14 power generators to the territory.
The Small Business Administration says it has already approved 368 home loans and 109 business loans about to more than $23 million.
