The Fjii Times reports the Minister for Trade, Industry and Tourism Faiyaz Koya, hosted his PNG counterpart Richard Maru last week.

Mr Koya says there were a lot of opportunities for cooperation between both countries, particularly in the areas of manufacturing and tourism.

Despite Fiji being smaller in size, it holds 41 percent of the Pacific regional tourism market compared with PNG which holds 10 percent.

Fiji also has over 58 percent of the Australian market with PNG sitting at 17.4 percent.

Mr Maru says PNG is interested in Fiji's manufacturing sector and would also invite new flights for Fiji Airways.

Apart from trade opportunities, Fiji has assigned a piece of land in Suva for PNG to build its new chancellery.
