Five sporting federations in the CNMI have been fined for failing to send athletes to last year's Pacific Games in Port Moresby.

The national athletics, volleyball, bodybuilding, tennis and triathlon federations are all in the firing line.

The Pacific Games Council says the sports associations that don't send athletes despite having entered them to compete are liable to a financial penalty of $1,000 per event.

Triathlon has the biggest fine of $4,000 for not sending a men's and women's teams, while the other four sporting groups were fined $2,000 apiece.
