Sport: PNG cricketers in contention

Papua New Guinea is 50 for 1 after three days of their Intercontinental Cup cricket match against Ireland in Townsville, chasing 346 for an outright victory.

The Barramundis were dismissed for 188 in their first innings early on day three, conceding first innings points, with Assad Vala the final man out for 120.

Ireland declared their second innings at 244 for 5, setting PNG 346 to win.

Lega Siaka was out early but Vala and Vani Morea have already added 31 for the second wicket.
