Two staff have been removed from Norfolk Island's radio station amid ongoing concerns at the actions of the Australian government on the island.

Two weeks ago the island's administrative director, Peter Gesling, ordered the radio station to stop political interviews or broadcasting politically partial public notices.

This followed months of acrimony after Canberra's decision last year to end Norfolk's limited autonomy.

There is widespread concern on the island that the suspension of the acting manager and the removal of a volunteer is because of perceived backing of a group that wants Australia to rethink this move.

But Mr Gesling said there is no bias issue, rather concerns over other performance matters which he is not prepared to publicly discuss.
