A New Caledonian court has sentenced eight prison inmates to between three and five years in jail over last month's mutiny.
They were found guilty of seizing and assaulting a guard when about 20 inmates tried to escape from the Camp Est jail.
They were also convicted for causing material damage, arson and resisting security forces.
The sentences will be added to the ones the inmates have been serving.
One of the accused was acquitted.
The correction unions said they expected harsher sentences for those involved in the assault of the guard.
