Solomon Islands minister of foreign affairs and external trade, Milner Tozaka, says with the closer links come expectations for strengthened and proactive co-operation between the two countries.
The Solomons government says there are opportunities for both nations diplomatically if more time and effort is put into exploring and identifying areas of cooperation.
Pakistan says it is willing to assist Solomon Islands in terms of education opportunities and policing programmes.
