Dismissal of MP upheld by PNG court

Papua New Guinea's National Court has confirmed the dismissal of Boka Kondra as North Fly MP on charges of misapplication of public money.

Mr Kondra was dismissed from office last year after a leadership tribunal found him guilty on six counts of misconduct in office for misappropriating district funds to the tune of more than US$72,000.

Immediately following his dismissal, the ousted MP filed for leave for a judicial review of the tribunal's decision.

The National Court judge Justice Colin Makail, dismissed the judicial review, meaning Mr Kondra's removal from office stands.
