The Hunters suffered their first defeat of the season away to the Sunshine Coast Falcons last weekend, having begun the campaign with three victories.

Fatigue could be a factor for the Hunters, who have only one home game in the first five weeks.

The squad returned to PNG on Monday before flying out to Cairns on Thursday and boarding a 10-hour bus ride to Mackay.

The focus this week has been on recovery and bouncing back from a bad day at the office according to head coach Michael Marum.

"We want to go down there and compete and do well and come away with the points. Last year we had a draw against them 28 points all so we want to get our confidence back from this game here (against Sunshine Coast)."

"We just want to go out there and do things better than last weekend and get the result we want. We just have to execute a bit better. There's no gameplan changes there - just positional changes to a few boys but no it shouldn't be a problem at all", he said.

PNG Kumuls international Tyson Martin will pack down in the second row for the home side Mackay, who are winless so far this season.
