Two people have died from dengue fever at the Port Moresby General Hospital in Papua New Guinea.
The Post Courier reports that the National Capital District is experiencing a rise in dengue fever cases.
The Health Minister Michael Malabag confirmed this yesterday when giving an update on dengue fever and Zika virus.
Mr Malabag said that since February, 37 dengue fever cases had been confirmed by laboratory tests.
He said that there were a number of confirmed cases in the Western province towns of Daru and Kiunga late last year.
Those areas are now reporting dengue's easing, but the minister indicated health clinics in the capital were now treating increasing numbers of people with symptoms.
This was causing congestion and stress in Accident and Emergency facilities.
