The European Union is closing its office in Apia, just two years after a grand opening.
In 2014, the EU Commissioner of Development Andris Piebalgs visited Samoa and other small island states to launch and review a series of sustainable development projects, including solar arrays and wind farms.
However, the Samoa Observer reports the EU has now decided to centralise its efforts in a regional office in Fiji.
The Head of the European Union Delegation for the Pacific, Andrew Jacobs, told the paper the EU is seeking more efficiency and the move will not affect its relationship with Samoa.
