Trial date set for 16 accused of sedition in Fiji

Sixteen people charged with sedition in Fiji for allegedly trying to establish a sovereign Christian state in the Nadroga and Navosa regions will face trial next year.

The 16 accused appeared in the High Court at Lautoka today where they were committed to stand trial in May next year.

They were all granted bail.

The men were arrested in August last year as part of a nationwide sweep which saw several separate groups consisting of dozens of people arrested on sedition charges.
