Lack of tilers in Fiji leads to Samoa recruitment

11:52 am on 18 May 2016

The lack of tiling skills in Fiji has led to contractors recruiting from Samoa for work on Nadi International Airport.

The FBC reports a Samoan company is now handling all the tiling works for the finishing phase of the new check-in area which will open in August.

Attorney-General and Minister for Civil Aviation, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says the hallmark of the US$11 million modernisation project is securing the best contractors for the job to ensure quality.

25 contractors are involved in the project and 360 workers are on site daily.

The project is expected to be completed by March 2017.
