Flight disruptions continue in Tahiti

The strike at French Polynesia's domestic airline has again led to some flights being cancelled.

However, today Air Tahiti is scheduled to fly to Rurutu and Tubuai in the Austral islands as well as Rangiroa and Tikehau.

Services to the Marquesas islands and many destinations in the Tuamotu group have been cancelled.

The airline says it will contact those travellers whose flights are assured.

Negotiations won't resume before tomorrow.

At the end of last week, three new strike notices were added to hit companies linked to the airline.

They are SOMSTAT, which refuels aircraft; Air Archipels, a subsidiary of Air Tahiti, and Newrest Polynésie, which supplies in-flight meals.

The strike was called ten days ago amid fears for job cuts as fewer people fly domestically.
