Talks are continuing between the Niue government and internet provider Rocket Systems after the government had shut it down last month.

It had given the company a month to discuss a way forward after taking exception to the company charging for a service that was previously free.

Rocket Systems said it was providing an expanded service and needed to charge because a subsidy that had previously covered the cost of the free service had been cut.

That month is now up but Rocket is being allowed to continue with its service while further talks happen, with a resolution now expected early next month.
