Reports from French Polynesia say striking staff at Air Tahiti may extend their action for more than another month.

The labour dispute is in its third week and an end is not in sight.

The last negotiations were held two days ago while flight schedules territory-wide keep being disrupted.

The unions blame the airline for the lack of progress.

Flights from Moorea, the island closest to Tahiti, have been suspended.

Air Tahiti has managed to retain a skeleton service to the more distant Austral and Marquesas islands while some travellers have used ships to make shorter journeys.
