Air Tahiti has put on extra flights to help clear a backlog of passengers hit by three-week strike across French Polynesia.

The strike had left several smaller islands cut off from the domestic airline network while it disrupted travel plans for many to and from the outer islands.

The dispute over cuts in working hours ended at the weekend but some employees say they are continuing their action by holding a hunger strike.
