A Northern Marianas man has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison after 226 videos of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct were found on his computer.

32-year-old Vincent Songsong's crime was described by the district court judge as one of the most egregious because the most innocent people were re-victimised by his conduct.

The judge said Songsong moved from downloading videos containing child pornography, to making his own videos of children.

She said the videos included children physically tortured and that to share such videos exacerbated the victims' suffering.
