Elderly and disabled people left behind in remote areas of Fiji are among those continuing to need long term trauma counselling after Cyclone Winston.
The counselling service Empower Pacific helped about 9000 people in the immediate aftermath of February's devastating category 5 storm.
500 have continued to have counselling in recent months and 12 percent of those still need care four months on.
But Paulini Vakacegu said it was a challenge getting to the people who need help inland and on the outer islands.
"In some of these cases it's very sad to note during the cyclone people left disabled people, old people, left behind because the younger ones just take off and they are forgotten so they are traumatised as a result of that and some of them sustained injuries and they lost their homes," she said.
Paulini Vakacegu said women and children have continued to suffer in abusive environments as a result of the stress caused by Winston.
