The French Polynesian Assembly has approved a multi-million dollar small business aid package in an attempt to boost the local economy.

In a statement, the Government says the measure aims to support the craft, manufacturing, processing, apiculture, and services industries, as well as expand into new fields, like the digital economy.

The assembly also approved another measure to revitalise local shops and restaurants.

The territory's economy has been in a long decline, led by falling visitor numbers.
