The Northern Marianas National Weather Service has issued a warning about an approaching tropical storm bearing down on Saipan and Tinian.
Tropical depression 10W is expected to bring heavy rain and flash flooding in the Commonwealth.
Winds of more than 60 kilometres an hour are expected and residents are being warned to secure objects that may become loose in the wind.
Saipan was severely battered by a typhoon in August 2014.
A Tropical Storm Condition 3 has been declared for Saipan and Tinian.
And a Tropical Storm Condition 2 has been issued for Pagan, Agrigan, and Alamagan.
