Controversial Fiji website offline

A website targetting prominent Fijians has gone offline.

For several days, the site Fijileaks Exposed published highly defamatory statements, taunts, explicit images, and threats, including threats to kill some on its list and asking readers to pray for one individual's death.

It is not immediately clear why the site has closed down.

The site was established after a Fiji consultant Kishore Kumar claimed to have hacked the site Fijileaks, which for years published leaked documents from Fiji.

In a Facebook posting, Mr Kumar said he did it for his nation, for his people and for his government.

He said he saw no reason to show mercy on disloyal citizens of Fiji who betrayed the nation.

Mr Kumar said he is not behind Fijileaks Exposed but suggested he worked with it to hack the Fiji Leaks website and the computer and emails of the publisher, Victor Lal.

Fiji police declined to comment about the hacking.
