Papua New Guinea football star Nigel Dabingyaba is joining New Zealand club Canterbury United in Christchurch.

Dabingyaba plays for Lae Biscuit Football Club in the PNG local competition and is expected to leave for New Zealand by the end of this month, pending visa approval.

The 23 year old striker, who started for The Kapuls during the OFC Nations Cup in June, returned from Australia last week after completion of the National Premier League.

He was satisfied after contributing to the Northern Pride's three straight wins, which saw them finish in 8th place.

"It was an exciting six weeks, I learnt a lot meaning my dream of becoming a professional player is just starting," Dabinyaba said.

For now, he's back to training with his local club before his departure for New Zealand.

Dabinyaba and fellow striking duo Raymond Gunemba, who is also on an overseas contract, have been the products of LFA's defending champion club Poro.
