The Police in Papua New Guinea have recovered a vehicle that was used in a daring robbery at Port Moresby's Jackson International Airport.

The Post Courier reports that US$380 thousand dollars were stolen last Thursday by five men dressed in the uniforms of a security firm.

An abandoned white Ford Ranger was found by police at Gordon from where the suspects are thought to have escaped in two five-door Land Cruisers.

The heist occurred while the money was about to be moved onto a plane.

Three of the five suspects held up airport employees at gunpoint and took six bags containing the money.

Security guards were late in responding to calls to close the main gate and the suspects made their getaway.

The money was a fortnight's wages for employees of a logging company in West New Britain.
