Fiji TV apologises to FBC

1:18 pm on 9 November 2016

Fiji Television has apologised to the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC), over a story involving FBC's chief executive officer Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

The apology comes following Mr Sayed-Khaiyum's complaint he was misrepresented by Fiji TV when he referred to certain social media commentators as idiots in a news conference.

FBC, which is Fiji's public broadcaster, has been under fire for alleged racist content on one of its language programmes.

A police investigation about the content aired on the programme Wasea Bhasha has been completed.

The Media Industry Development Authority is conducting its own investigation into the incident.
