Verdict today on assault and rape charges against Fiji police, soldier

The judge in Fiji's trial of eight suspended policemen and a soldier charged with rape is today due to give his verdict

Earlier this week, assessors found five of the police officers and the soldier guilty of the rape and sexual assault of Vilikesa Soko two years ago.

Soko died of his injuries and another rape victim survived.

Three police officers were found not guilty by the assessors.

Two of the policemen who were also charged with defeating the course of justice have been found not guilty by the assessors.
