Dengue numbers rising in Vanuatu

5:00 pm on 1 December 2016

Vanuatu's Ministry of Health has confirmed there are now eight cases of dengue in the country.

Last week just two cases had been confirmed.

All the cases occurred around Port Vila with the victims managing their conditions at their homes.

The Health Ministry Director George Taleo says they are strengthening disease surveillance around the country.

Mosquito breeding sites are being sprayed by the vector borne disease control team while the Ministry is asking residents in the capital to cooperate in reducing breeding sites for the pests.
