Papua New Guinea franchise Madang FC will participate in their maiden OFC Champions League after being confirmed as the replacement for Hekari United, who were disqualified.

Madang were nominated by the PNGFA as the next best team in the 2016 PNG National Soccer League.

Hekari United were excluded after the chairman John Kapi Natto and several players were deemed to have damaged the integrity of football, contravening the tournament regulations.

Madang have been placed in Group A alongside AS Magenta from New Caledonia, Tahiti's AS Central Sport and qualifier runners-up Lupe Ole Soaga from Samoa.

Club Chairman Miok Komolong says the team is ready and are looking forward for the competition in two weeks' time.
