It is expected the agreement will eventually lead to air connectivity between the nations and allow improved access for the Cook Islands to the Singaporean tourism market.

The agreement was signed in Singapore by the Cook Islands Prime Minister Henry Puna, who is also Minister for Transport and Tourism, and Singapore's Minister for Infrastructure and Minister of Transport Khaw Boon Wan.

Mr Puna is in Singapore for that country's High-Level Study Visit for Pacific Islands States - an event hosted by the Singapore Government and attended by other Pacific leaders.
