The United States Environmental Protection Agency has completed an operation to remove hazardous waste in American Samoa.
The waste included mercury, pesticides, and other harmful products that require special disposal.
Materials were tested and segregated at a secured lot provided by the Office of Disaster Assistance and Petroleum Management.
Waste from places including the Lyndon B Johnson Tropical Medical Centre and government departments was packed into a shipping container to be disposed of at a regulated facility off island.
