Hunters coach Michael Marum spoke with his opposing coach Mark Gliddon, and said the 28 year-old hadbeen cleared to make his debut at Sir John Guise Stadium, after training with his teammates for the past month.

"Hopefully he will come into PNG and also to our stadium and our fans here so it's going to be a big day on Sunday...we has heard his name included in the list of players coming up so I'm thinking he probably might play off the bench and that's a big plus for Norths coming up into one of their important games here," he said.

The Hunters are one of three unbeaten teams after three rounds of the Queensland Cup, and trail Townsville and Wynnum Manly in the competitions standings on points differential.

Michael Marum said there was a good feeling in the camp, with this year's squad less focused on themselves and more about the team.

"They're more committed, they want the results compared to the other year..we had a big pre-season as well and that's probably paying off now but again it's only round three [completed] so we still have a long season to go and we hope that the players keep performing all throughout the year.

"The important thing for us is to focus on each game at a time," he said.

Marum said he wants to see further improvements on defence after the Hunters conceded two late tries last week against Souths Logan Magpies.
