The federally imposed limits on foreign workers in the Northern Marianas could soon force the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation to shut down some departments.
New limits on the numbers of foreigners that can be in the CNMI mean the Corporation, which runs hospitals and medical clinics, will lose half its nursing staff.
The Corporation chief executive, Esther Muna, said they would ensure the emergency room, the dialysis centre, the operating room, the hospital wards, and the ER office areas of the hospital will be the sections that be maintained if such a scenario transpires.
The clinics likely to close temporarily include the women's clinic, the children's clinic, the adult clinic, and quite possibly the programmes like as the immunisation clinics.
