Trial date set in Fiji sedition case

A new trial date has been set in Fiji for 14 people accused of sedition.

The Lautoka High Court said the defendants would be tried from 2 October to 7 November.

The group was alleged to have planned to set up a Christian state in 2014.

The defendants were in court today and pleaded not guilty to the amended information, which has seen all of them facing two counts of sedition each.

The prosecution said a pre-trial conference had been called for 12 September.

The 14 are free on bail.
