Fiji census set for September

Fiji's census night has been set for September 17.

It will be the first census in a decade and according to the website Fiji Village it will receive technical support from the Pacific Community, the World Bank, the UN Population Fund and the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The country is divided into 1,900 areas for the purpose of the census which aims to gather a raft of information on Fiji's population and housing situation.

Government Statistician Epeli Waqavonovono said it would be the first time tablets are used to collect and store data.
