Sport: PNG and Samoa women set up T20 cricket decider

Papua New Guinea and Samoa have set up a winner-takes-all decider after contrasting victories in the penultiumate round of the Women's World T20 - East Asia-Pacific Cricket Qualifier.

The PNG Lewas piled on 155 for 6 batting first, with Tanya Ruma and Sibona Jimmy adding 64 runs for the opening wicket.

Sibona Jimmy also did the damage with the ball, taking 4 for 13 from three overs as Japan were dismissed for 63 in the 14th over.

Meanwhile Lagi Otila Telea took the tournament's first five wicket haul (5-14) as Samoa dismissed Vanuatu for 46 before reaching their target with four wicket to spare.

Samoa remain unbeaten atop the standings but PNG's superior run-rate means whoever wins today's final round clash will advance to the final Women's World Twenty20 Global Qualifier.

Vanuatu 46 (17.3) Solman 15, Telea 5/14 (4), Tato 2/7 (4) defeated by Samoa 6/47 (16.5) Uliao 16*, Velvel Fare 2/4 (4), L Chilia 2/13 (4) by 4 wickets.
