French Polynesia's ruling party has strongly rejected claims of electoral fraud made by the leader of the Tahoeraa Huiraatira Party Gaston Flosse.

Flosse alleged that the Tapura Huiraatira Party had used proxy votes of people outside their electorates in last weekend's French presidential election.
He said he might lodge a complaint.
The Tapura-backed candidate Emmanuel Macron beat Marine Le Pen, who was supported by Flosse.
In a statement, the Tapura said Flosse's arguments were pitiful, accusing him of being an expert in vote tampering himself.
It said he was treating voters as idiots, since they weren't influenced by being given job contracts or other assistance.
In 2004, Flosse succeeded with a complaint for electoral fraud, prompting Paris to annul the territorial election in the Society Islands.
