Flights from Tahiti to several destinations have been cancelled for the day, including to Huahine and the Marquesas.

However, flights to nearby Moorea are assured.

The international carrier Air Tahiti Nui has also been affected and altered the schedule of its Los Angeles and Auckland flights.

The strike was called because depending on the airport, some firefighters are employed by the state and others by a private company.
