The Senate adopted a legislative initiative last week to amend the CNMI constitution to allow 'double-dipping' which would let an individual receive both a pension and a salary.

The constitution currently limits the re-employment of retirees to two years, but under the initiative, retirees could work again as teachers, doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals for an unlimited period of time.

Our correspondent Mark Rabago said the amendment could coincide with the end of the CNMI-Only Transitional Worker Program, which is slated to be phased out by the end of 2019.
