Synthetic drugs in NZ reported to be shipped from overseas

A man working in the underground drug industry in New Zealand said he believes that synthetic drugs are not being made in the country.

Bags of synthetic cannabis were found in the roof cavity of one house, police said.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, spoke out about the drugs after an eighth person died from smoking what's known as synthetic cannabis.

He said the people making the drug are not in New Zealand.

"They're shipping them in containers. I wouldn't say who, but if you go to a place and you get some, guarantee they're going to have more."

"People are buying it in bulk. Whoever is selling it, they will have a lot of it, so it would have to come in containers," he said.
