Samoa and UNDP sign multi-millon deal

Samoa's government and the United Nations Development Programme have signed a multi-million dollar agreement for the development of further renewable energy projects in the country.

The US$36 million project is to improve the performance and reliability of renewable energy power systems in Samoa.

Our correspondent said Samoa was one of the first countries to get funding for its push to rely on 100 percent renewable energy by 2022.

The money will go to the Samoa Trust Estates Corporation biomass project, and other community based schemes.
