The Japanese government provided $US7 million for the rehabilitation which took over 18 months to complete.

It included the installation of a 60 metre antenna with two AM transmitters.

Prime minister Frank Bainimarama said villages in the most remote pockets of the interior and in the furthest reaches of the outer islands could now tune into the AM signal managed by the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation.
