Parking meters to be installed in Samoa's capital

7:43 am on 14 August 2017

The public will have to pay for parking in Samoa's capital from next year.

Our correspondent said approval was given to the Land Transport Authority to install parking meters within the Apia town area and other public places.

The authority's assistant chief executive Mata'afa Sepilini Poufa said Apia was a bustling and growing economy, and traffic in the town area was a nightmare.

Mata'afa said with the growing number of vehicles, the parking meters would minimise traffic congestion as well as accidents.
