The firm was recently offered government land in Satala previously occupied by a power plant.

It had earlier requested space at the government owned shipyard at Satala but was refused.

Keniseli Lafaele of American Samoa's Commerce Department said StarKist was considering options including the old power plant land.

He said the government is hopeful StarKist will decide on the matter soon to avoid closures like last week's shut down due to a shortage of fish.
