A shortage of fuel and other supplies is starting to bite in the Papua New Guinea Highlands as road blockades show little sign of letting up.
In Enga province, the disgruntled relatives of two policemen killed in election violence have blocked the Highlands Highway at Wabag for nearly a week demanding compensation.
The Post Courier reported there were also blockades on other parts of the Highway.
It reported that fuel was critically low in some inland provinces, with trucks stranded in Goroka and Lae.
In Kundiawa, fuel stations have run completely dry, with workers ordered home early on Friday because buses had run out of fuel.
Business owners and trucking companies have also reported losses in the past week, and are calling on the government to address protesters' concerns quickly.
