A passenger arriving in French Polynesia from Los Angeles has been detained with 1.2 kilogrammes of methamphetamines in his baggage.

Tahiti media says the seizure is the result of a long standing investigation.

Reports say several other people have also been detained and searches are being made.

The reports say investigators believe the latest seizure is linked to another case involving a French Polynesian man arrested for drugs offences in Los Angeles in June.
